What is a COMA agreement?

A COMA Agreement stands for Control, Operate and Maintain Agreement. It is a formal arrangement that appoints a competent Authorised Person to take responsibility for the safe control, operation and maintenance of high voltage assets.

Owners of high voltage equipment must, by law, have an appointed “Authorised Person”, this appointment must be made in writing. A COMA contract fulfils this requirement. The Authorised Person ensures that equipment is operated in line with safe working procedures, industry standards and the requirements of BS6626:2010.

Planned maintenance and inspections

Planned maintenance is essential to the safe and reliable operation of high voltage systems. As part of a COMA agreement, SPEC Ltd delivers structured inspection and maintenance programmes aligned with industry best practice and manufacturer guidance or in line with SFG20.

This service includes annual non-intrusive inspections, planned maintenance of high voltage equipment such as transformers, BTUs and switchgear, and optional maintenance of main low voltage switchboards, power factor correction and voltage optimisers.

All work is carried out by qualified engineers and fully documented to support compliance and insurance requirements.
